The IPHC joins with the family and friends in mourning the passing of Bishop Mike Gray, who died Wednesday afternoon. Bishop Gray served the last 10 years as Conference Superintendent of Alpha Ministries (Alabama), also chairing the IPHC’s Finance Committee. Prior to his conference service, Bishop Gray spent several years working at the Global Ministry Center near Oklahoma City.
Alpha Ministries published the following announcement and tribute to Bishop Gray on its Facebook page:
It is with the deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences that we announce our beloved Bishop Mike Gray entered the glorious presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this afternoon.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Karen, his precious children LeighAnne (Blake) Ivey and Kenny (Mary) Gray and the delights of his heart, his “cubbies” Brodie and AnnaBella Ivey. He also leaves behind many family members, friends and loved ones.
Bishop Mike was full of humility and integrity. He was a saint of God, a man of prayer, a student of the Word, and he served the Lord with every ounce of his being. He was called to preach as a teenager and he ministered in his calling for 46 years.
For the past 11 years, Bishop Gray served the Alpha Conference as the Conference Superintendent. He also served as the Chairman of the IPHC Finance Committee and various denominational committees and boards. Prior to becoming the Alpha Conference Bishop, he served as the Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to the IPHC General Superintendent in Oklahoma City, OK, for 4.5 years. He pastored Alpha Conference Churches; McComb’s Chapel, Robertsdale IPHC, Good Shepherd and The Celebration Center in Anniston, AL. Other areas he served during his time of ministry: Conference Church Growth Director, Conference Assistant Superintendent and as a member of the Conference Executive Council. He was also an integral part of Alpha Conference Youth Camps and had a heart for the Next Generation.
Thank you for praying for the Gray Family. May the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit abide closely and embrace them with our Heavenly Father’s grace, peace, comfort and hope.
We will share the arrangements with you when they become available.
Pursuant to the IPHC Manual, Assistant Superintendent Jason Beiler has assumed the office and responsibilities of Alpha’s conference superintendent.
