Dr. Prince Guneratnam
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of a choice servant and exceptional Kingdom leader, Tan Sri Rev. Dr. Prince Guneratnam,” said Dr. Wilson. “Prince went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness.”
Dr. Guneratnam served for nine years (2010-2019) as chairman of the PWF, a fellowship of Evangelical Pentecostal churches and denominations from across the world. He was also Senior Pastor of Calvary Church, a strong missions church in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Various ministries and advisory boards, both nationally and internationally, benefited from Dr. Guneratnam’s faithful leadership, including his serving as the General Superintendent-Emeritus of the Assemblies of God of Malaysia, and as Regional Director of the Church Growth International (CGI) for South East Asia. He founded, established, and instituted several humanitarian ministries. In recognition of his meritorious service, he was conferred with the honorific title of “Tan Sri” by the King of Malaysia in 2008.
Dr. Guneratnam was an honorary member of the PWF Advisory Committee and, a member of the Empowered21 Global Council at the time of his passing.
Presiding Bishop A. D. Beacham, Jr., expressed sincere condolences at the passing of Dr. Guneratnam. “It was a privilege to serve with Dr. Guneratnam as a member of the Advisory and Executive Committees of the Pentecostal World Fellowship. In addition, Dr. Guneratnam and IPHC Bishop James Leggett worked closely together when Bishop Leggett was chair of the Pentecostal World Fellowship. Both men held each other in high regard and were well respected across the larger Christian community. The prayers of the IPHC global family are with Dr. Guneratnam’s family.”
A Farewell Service in “Celebration of a Life Well-lived” will be held at 11:30 am on September 10, 2022, at Calvary Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a thanksgiving gift that will go toward the work of the Kingdom. For more information or to contact the church please go to www.calvary.my.
