Joyce Marie (Whitman) Whitfield, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, February 23, 2015, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Joyce is the wife of retired IPHC minister, Rev. Marvin Whitfield; they have two children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Rev. and Mrs. Whitfield are the founders of Alternative to Abortion, now Royal Home Ministries, in Salemburg, North Carolina. For several years, the Whitfields carried a vision for the Pentecostal Holiness Church to have a maternity home for mother and baby care. In 1992, their vision became a reality and the first young lady was accepted into care. Since then, over 325 young women have been served through the ministry of The Royal Home. On November 24, 2014, Royal Home Ministries dedicated the Marvin and Joyce Whitfield Life Campus which will expand the maternity and after care ministries.
Presiding Bishop Doug Beacham states, “The IPHC is deeply grateful for the vision and compassion that Joyce Whitfield showed through her life. This is especially true for her latter years and her determination to make a difference in the lives of unborn children. Our prayers are extended to Marvin and their family.”
