One child can make a difference. It doesn’t take an adult with years of experience to bring change in the world around them. It simply takes a heart that is full of faith, confident that he or she can bring light into a dark world. One of the most common scriptures children learn in church is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Children are unique in that they don’t have a vast amount of life experience that involves fear of failure. So in turn, they have the ability to fearlessly see, create, and implement ideas. They truly believe that they can do all things through Christ. It is childlike faith. So why shouldn’t we as the church give them ample opportunities to use their childlike faith to bring hope and love to the world around them?
Change can happen through a small colorful box. People to People and Kid Min have teamed up to deliver Feed the Hungry offering banks. As leaders and parents, we must teach the importance of meeting the needs of this world. The Bible teaches us in James 2:14-17 that “faith without works is dead”. Missions is the perfect opportunity for kids to get involved in reaching those needs. It is a ministry that should be implemented from birth and continued into adult years. What better way to get kids plugged into missions then by giving them a colorful box that has purpose? Through Feed the Hungry, children who give will be providing food for thousands of children on a weekly basis.
People to People, alongside Kid Min, are praying and believing that this box will be a catalyst for mission’s involvement in IPHC Children’s Ministry worldwide. As leaders, we must train up a child in the ways of the Lord. All it takes is one child with a bright idea to make an impact on the world around them. That bright idea may put thousands of dollars into that colorful box.
So how about it? Are we, as the church going to use some of the most creative, faith-filled minds around us? Personally, I wouldn’t risk bypassing a child’s potential when I know that he or she may hold the faith needed to make a change that this world needs to see.
