Women’s Heritage Scholarship
APPLICATIONS DUE ANNUALLY BY JULY 1st
In her book published in 2010, Dr. Kristen Welch uses autobiographies, archival documents, and interviews to examine the emerging ethos of women preachers in the IPHC. In “Women with the Good News”: The Rhetorical Heritage of Pentecostal Holiness Women Preachers, Dr. Welch shares how Oklahoma women preachers have been shaped by the Holy Spirit, by the people of Oklahoma, and by the Pentecostal community. Through the voices of Pentecostals living in Indian Territory in the late 19th century, the 20th century, and up to today, Welch examines what it really means to be a Pentecostal preacher.
As a result of her passion for higher education and her devotion to encouraging women, Dr. Welch has established a new scholarship fund to aid women studying to become a minister at an IPHC college, or to help any student who has made studying women preachers the subject of his or her studies. The Women’s Heritage Scholarship Fund also supports students who wish to engage in travel or activities related to this subject. All proceeds from her book go to this scholarship.
If you or someone you know would like to be nominated for this scholarship, please fill out THIS FORM and send it to the address listed on the application.
