Day 2 of YouthQuest started off with the #YQGathering. The Gathering is a new morning service format which centers around Worship, the Word, and Discipleship. The Well, led by SMAT Member Josh Lafferty, guided the YouthQuest congregation into a powerful time of worship. Josh Kestner, also of the SMAT, gave a challenging short sermon drawing on the Greatest Commandment in Matthew 22:34. He exhorted the audience, “You are leaders, not followers…and you can’t lead in something you don’t know.” Click here, if you want to hear Josh Kestner’s full message from YouthQuest Sunday morning.
Following Kestner’s message, the Gathering was invited to participate in a time of discipleship called #YQSessions. Led by leaders from all around the IPHC, YQ attendees could learn more about Worship, Missions, Social Media, Theology, and Mentoring. A special session called “Bishop Spinning” also took place during this time. Led by Presiding Bishop Doug Beacham, Bishop Tommy McGhee, and Bishop Garry Bryant, “Bishop Spinning” was a fantastic opportunity for pastors, leaders, and students to interact with the leaders of the denomination.
During the #YQGathering, Presiding Bishop Doug Beacham greeted the attendees representing the General Superintendent’s Office, one of the Gold Sponsors for #YQ2019. He highlighted the 7 Core Values of the IPHC and gave an empowering speech to the audience about Arise 2033. Beacham challenged the students to participate in the Arise 2033 movement. Beacham also challenged them to be part of a #232 generation. Based on a passage in 1 Kings, Beacham called for the students to be young leaders who will be part of the completion of Arise 2033. For more information on Arise 2033 and how you can join the movement, click here.
In the afternoon, students participated in a variety of Fine Arts categories that included: Vocal Solo, Vocal Duets / Trios / Quartets, Vocal Ensemble, Choir, Rap, Creative Movement, Mime, Pantomime, Puppetry/Ventriloquism, as well as Painting and Graphic Design.
At the beginning of the evening service, Madeline Nix, Ashlee Hafner, and Jon Campbell spoke representing The Awakening, one of #YQ19’s Gold Sponsors. You can find out more about their work by clicking here.
The evening service was a strong continuation on Night 1’s service. Casey Doss preached a dynamic message on the necessity of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. The audience responded to his convicting message and many responded for prayer. To see a live stream of Doss’ message, click here.
After two exciting days, we’re looking forward to more to come in Day 3!
