“for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking,
but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 14:17
In 2017, the IPHC vision of “Place of Hope. People of Promise” is highlighted by our core value, “We Prayerfully Value Christ’s Kingdom.” As the fourth of seven core values, Christ’s Kingdom is the “door” that connects the other core values. The first three– Scripture, Pentecost, and Holiness, reflect the spiritual work of God in redeeming, sanctifying, and empowering us for service in the world. The final three– Every Generation, Justice, and Generosity, are the daily outflowing of God’s work in finding us as lost sheep, saving us, bringing us into His folds, and preparing us for His service.
General Superintendent Dr. Doug Beacham encourages the IPHC family to join together for this special emphasis:
“The IPHC is a part of the larger work of God’s righteous reign in and through the body of Christ and in the world. In 2017 we will learn what this means for how we live in the world, awaiting the return of the King of the Kingdom!”
This year’s focus will consist of four emphases:
- “The kingdom of God is at hand.” – Mark 1:15
Focus: The biblical emphasis of the kingdom of God
- “The kingdom of God is like…” – Matthew 13:24
Focus: The signs and manifestations of the kingdom of God
- “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
Focus: Extending the kingdom of God
- “We are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken…” – Hebrews 12:28
Focus: Christ establishes the fullness of His kingdom when He returns
As a part of this emphasis, you can sign up (choose IPHC News) to receive a monthly Christ’s Kingdom email with book, video, sermon and devotional resources for the whole family. You can also find additional resources at iphc.org/christskingdom.
We look forward to prayerfully valuing Christ’s Kingdom together in 2017!
